President's Message:  Building Relationships vs. Traditional Networking  

Strong, productive relationships are the foundation of any successful career.  It might seem obvious to state that relationships take time and effort to build and involve both parties making contributions to help them to grow.  However, too often I find that people confuse networking and relationship building.  What I usually observe is that people seem to think that engaging in a networking activity allows them to treat someone they have just met as if they have taken the time and effort to build a relationship.  I sometimes refer to type of activity this as drive by networking.  >>Read More
