President's Message: Our Mission

The Network of Women in Business is an organization of diverse, dynamic individuals dedicated to the professional development and advancement of woman as leaders and valued resources in the business community. 

So far, this has been a year of change, challenge, and growth for the Network of Women in Business. At the beginning of the year, we launched new Special Interest Groups and retired ones that were no longer attracting a sufficient number of participants. We also decided to go from a monthly Power Lunch schedule to one that met quarterly. Our attendance at our Power Lunches is up over last year – including a sold-out lunch in August featuring Ann Murtlow, President and CEO of Indianapolis Power and Light as our speaker.  From my vantage point, all of these have been positive changes that I feel have lead to a renewal of energy on the board and among members. 

I believe that the actions that we took with our programming this year showed our willingness to try new things as well as to let go of activities and events that do not perform up to our expectations. To me, these traits are both important because if NOWIB is to continue to grow, we must be willing to challenge our comfort zone, which means risking failure as well as welcoming success. 

As the board and committees embark on the planning process for next year’s programming schedule, we will use our mission statement as a guide. As we make these plans we will be challenging ourselves to think of new ways to deliver value to our members that aligns with our mission.  If you have an interest in helping to shape the next year of NOWIB, please contact any of the board members.
