Testimonials

I've been involved in several different networking groups in Indianapolis in my young business career. I have been most actively involved in NOWIB as both a member and a leader entirely due to the relationships with other like-minded professional women that I have developed over the last 3 years. These women are not only wonderful professional contacts for me but also my friends.

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN August 7, 2009) – The Network of Women in Business, Indianapolis’ oldest and largest locally based women’s organization, announced today they will host their 6th Annual Gala luncheon on Thursday, September 17th, 2009.

The event takes place from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Omni Severin Hotel in Downtown Indianapolis. The afternoon program includes a presentation, “Defining Moments” delivered by Keynote speaker Dr. Jo Ann Gora, President of Ball State University. “Defining Moments” will focus on Dr. Gora’s own personal journey, and she will discuss how leadership roles have changed for women in the past 30 years.

Over the last several years Dr. Gora has ascended to the forefront of women business leaders. As the recent recipient of the Mira Trailblazer Award from Techpoint, Dr. Gora has proven her commitment to technology innovation in Indiana. In 2008, she was named one of fifteen “Women of Wonder” in the 2008 spring issue of Indiana Minority Business Magazine and in 2007 she was named one of Indiana’s most influential women by the Indianapolis Business Journal.

“It’s my honor to speak at this event,” Gora said. “I believe that as women share our personal and professional stories and learn from those of others, it improves our leadership skills, whether in business or in any other endeavor.”

Gala highlights include an awards ceremony recognizing the successes achieved by women in Indiana. Recognition will be bestowed upon local businesswomen in the following categories: Businesswoman of the Year, Mentor of the Year and Woman to Watch. Nominations are being accepted online at www.nowib.com.

"The Network is thrilled to be hosting Dr. Gora as our Gala speaker.  I think that Dr. Gora is a role model for our members and am looking forward to hearing her speak." said Jill Wesley, President of NOWIB. "This event allows us not only to afford another professional development opportunity to businesswomen, but also the chance to honor those who have been a source of inspiration, served as a mentor, or achieved extraordinary things in their careers.”

Tickets are on sale now.  The investment to attend is $40 per person for members, $50 for non members and $20 for students. For those interested in attending the Gala as an organization, tables of eight are available for $300.

As the principal annual fundraising effort for NOWIB, the proceeds from this event go to support the network in its mission throughout the year. This nonprofit 501(c) (6) organization provides support as well as professional development opportunities to women throughout Central Indiana.
