Our Featured Speaker:
Christie Sorrels is the Business Services Program Director for Indiana State Parks.
In this role, she leads the division in successfully administering several key programs for the division, serving both central office and field management staff. She has worked for the Indiana DNR for ten years. Receiving a Bachelor degree in Community Health Education (Ball State University, 1996), and her Masters in Urban Planning (Indiana University, 2001), she is grateful for the opportunity to develop a career with state parks. While most of her daily work life is spent on the administrative side of the division in downtown Indianapolis, she looks forward to opportunities when she can get out of the office and into some of Indiana’s most valued resources – spending time with staff in state parks. Christie recently became a Certified Public Manager after completing a two-year program administered by the Bowen Center for Public Affairs (Ball State University, 2017). She loves to share the exciting things that are happening in state parks, and being a part of getting people outdoors! In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, kayaking, hiking, visiting state and national parks and taking long (sometimes unplanned) road trips to new places with her family.
