Heartland Film is a nonprofit arts organization that runs the 11-day Heartland International Film Festival in October.
Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, Heartland Film was founded in 1991 with the mission to curate, promote and celebrate thoughtful and engaging films from diverse perspectives. The films we select and exhibit – whether they inspire conversation, ignite imagination, or shift perspectives – all have one thing in common: they are films that do more than entertain.
We will be viewing two short films from women in the area with a Meet & Greet with the filmmakers. The films this year will be Root Black (26 minutes) and Invisible Crown (20 minutes)
Root Black – A poetic documentary that weaves through time to explore the relationship between African Americans and the natural world by highlighting our agrarian heritage rife with both beauty and pain.
Invisible Crown – The Invisible Crown follows Endometriosis warrior Hannah Lindgren as she wrestles with medical trauma, processes complex emotions, and explores methods of healing mind and body.
